Thunder Racing recommends changing to a keyed crankshaft hub during a camshaft change. Even though there is a slot for a keyway in the crankshaft, GM does not provide for one on the factory crank hub. The only thing holding
the hub to the crankshaft is a press-fit. With removal and re-installation of the hub, this press fit will sometimes not be as tight as it should be, which can result in a potentially harmful situation under high RPM usage or
heavy loads, such as a supercharger with high boost. To fix this situation, we offer a keyed hub. Please note that 93-95 models take a longer hub than 96-97 cars. (Click on Image to the left for Detailed Picture.)
