Although the factory exhaust system is better than the original 289 equipped stove pipes, Hooker's Cross-Pipe is designed to improve mid and upper RPM range torque. This would also make a perfect upgrade for vehicles with
forced induction. This 2.5" OD stainless steel Cross-Pipe is a slip fit design and comes complete with stainless steel T-bolt clamps. It also bolts directly to the factory over-axle exhaust pipes. The Cross-Pipe is
constructed of 16 gauge 304 stainless steel and is mandrel bent for smooth exhaust flow. Installation option A: Install Hooker Cross-Pipe to factory catalytic converter - part number: 66-16684HKR. To install, cut factory exhaust pipe 4" ahead of hanger.
Installation option B:
Install Hooker Cross-Pipe to Hooker full length headers (66-6233HKR/66-6233-1HKR) - part number: 66-16684HKR. Install at
header collector with slip-fit T-bolt clamps provided.Installation option C: Install Hooker Cross-Pipe directly (no catalytic converter) to factory exhaust manifolds or Hooker EO headers (6138HKR/6138-1HKR) - part number: 66-16784HKR. This version of Hooker's Cross-Pipe incorporates high-flow extension tubes that replace the factory catalytic converter. All the necessary O2 connections are incorporated in these extension tubes. Extension tubes can be removed at a later date if owner wants to install Hooker full length headers (66-6133HKR/66-6133-1HKR) or re-install factory catalytic converters.
All installation options perform best when combined with Hooker’s high flow polished Aerochamber muffler set (66-21521HKR).
