Most vehicles are built using rubber bushings in the control arms, strut rods, suspension and body mounts, sway bars, shocks, etc. In addition to being on the soft side (to accomodate the majority of typical car and truck buyers) they tend to deteriorate rapidly. This can lead to premature component failure, a "spongy" ride and less-than ideal handling.
