1993-1997 LT1 F-Body Clutches

Star Performance Clutches are available in 5 different stages.
Stage 1 - A Stage 1 clutch is a great upgrade from stock for street use. Stage 1 clutches include a metal backed / organic faced
disk.
Stage 2 - Stage 2 clutches are recommended for mildly upgraded vehicles with a power adder. A segmented Kevlar disk is used on the Stage 2 clutch kits.
Stage 2+ - For all modified engines making more torque than the stage 2 can support. Maintains stage 2 feel for good daily drivability and offers very good wear characteristics, but provides a higher torque capacity. High clamp pressure plate, composite multi-friction carbon-kevlar material, high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.
Stage 3 - Stage 3 clutches come with a sprung center disk with pads. The disk
pads are a carbon/ceramic combination. The ULTIMATE STREET/STRIP CLUTCH! Sharp but smooth engagement with light pedal.
Stage 3+ - Features a streetable high clamp pressure plate and full face
carbon semi-metallic disc. Listed as an upgrade to the stage 3, it offers torque capacities more comparable to the stage 5 but with drivability equal to, and in some cases better than, the stage 3. The high capacity and
excellent drivability characteristics of this clutch is a result of years of research and development for this SPEC exclusive disc compound.
Stage 4 - Stage 4 clutches are not recommended for
street use due to their aggressive nature. A rigid disk and carrier are used in combination with your choice of Kevlar, carbon or ceramic pads.
Stage 5 - Stage 5 clutch kits contain high-clamp
load pressure plate, iron disc, bearings and a tool. Extremely aggressive.
NOTE: C6 and CTS-V clutch kits are flywheel specific. Be sure to check part number so it corresponds to the specific flywheel your using. New flywheels can be purchased under the flywheel section.
HDX Performance Sets include the release bearing and tool at no extra charge! They offer increased clamp load pressure plates and premium organic disc facing for extremely smooth driveability and incresed holding power by 40% over stock.
Powergrip Sets include the release bearing and tool at no extra charge! Powergrip sets feature increased clamp load pressures and a blend of 900 series sintered and 300 series organic friction materials for an excellent blend of driveability and increased holding power up to 80% over stock.
Powergrip HD Clutch Sets include the release bearing and tool at no extra charge! Powergrip sets feature increased clamp load pressures and 900 series sintered frictionmaterials for an excellent blend of driveability and increased holding power up to 120% over stock.
Ram does not recommend using a stock flywheel for racing or high horsepower street applications. Please use a billet steel or aluminum flywheel for your safety. Ram clutch units are set up to work with factory hydraulics. In some cases, such as LS1 vehicles in which flywheels have been resurfaced 2 or 3 times, an adjustable master cylinder may be required for proper release and adjustment. Adjustable master cylinders are strongly recommended for racing, so minimum release can be set to avoid high RPM shifting problems.
True Balance Billet Flywheels are ready to install right from the box! Preceision ground and balanced to within 1/2 ounce/inch of factory spec's. These SFI approved flywheels also feature multiple pressure plate bolt patterns and a quarter-inch-thick heat shield on alumninum models.RAM flywheels can be resurfaced instead of replacing the insert every time the clutch is freshened.
Street Dual Disk Clutch assembly consists of an aluminum flywheel, easy pedal effort diaphragm pressure plate, 300 series friction material, and a special floater plate retainer system that virtually eliminates floater plate rattle. The holding capacity for this clutch is in excess of 900 ft/lbs, yet the engagement is silky smooth thanks to the 300 series friction.
Mcleod has been one of the top names in the clutch business for nearly 30 years. They have been at the forefront of development in clutches for late model cars to offer the ultimate in holding power. Whether it's your daily
driver or your all-out race car, Mcleod will have a clutch to fit your needs.
The basic RAM concept of clutch performance is simple: Increased clamp pressure is the single most effective way to manage high horsepower or load, especially in street driven performance cars. We purpose build RAM HDX
pressure plates with 30% more clamp pressure than stock. The second important feature is smooth, chatter free operation, which we achieve with premium organic composite disc friction material. Also, HDX discs feature our
exclusive 8-spring hub assembly for added load capacity. RAM HDX clutches provide great driveability and control for power levels to 450 horsepower. Sets include pressure plate, disc, release bearing, and alignment tool
unless otherwise noted.
As power levels move up to and beyond 500 horsepower. RAM POWERGRIP meets the challenge with a combination of organic and metallic disc friction surfaces that effectively increase the clutch capacity to the 550 horsepower
level. The 8-spring hub is equipped with RAM POLYCOIL damper springs encapsulated in polyurethane. This spring can handle three times the shock load of just the coil spring, and is standard in all RAM competition discs. The
RAM Competition pressure plate in this kit provides 30% more clamp pressure than stock, and meets SFI specifications. At this high level of performance RAM POWERGRIP provides surprisingly good driving characteristics with
smooth, comfortable driver control. Sets include pressure plate, disc, release bearing, and alignment tool unless otherwise noted.
POWERGRIP HD is a true "strip/street" competition clutch system that can handle the rigors of weekend racing and spirited street driving. This system has the same components as standard POWERGRIP above with the exception that
the disc friction surfaces are both sintered iron. Sintered iron provides a degree of slippage on vehicle launch to prevent the violent and uncontrollable engagement characteristics of paddle type metallic discs. This firm
consistent engagement is easy to control. Some chatter is likely on engagement with rear gearing less than 3.73 in street applications. Each set includes the pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing, and alignment tool
unless otherwise noted. Use Powergrip HD for power levels to 650 horsepower, or lower powered vehicles that see frequent track duty.
