1996-2007 GM Truck Crankshafts
DragonSlayer Crankshafts are made in the U.S.A. for American Racers. With an expanded line of part numbers, the DragonSlayer is rapidly setting the standard by which other Sportsman
crankshafts are measured. These shafts are machined to the tolerances demanded by today’s high performance engine builder. Roundness and taper are held to less than .0003 on all rod and main journal diameters. Our final
polishing procedures produce excellent load carrying surfaces that ensure extended bearing life and trouble free operation. Each Callies DragonSlayer receives our unique Dura-Tough heat treatment. This process has proven to
add extended long-term value to these highly stressed components. Callies heat treat expertise combined with our high purity premium 4340 forging produce strength of unparalleled value. All DragonSlayers are produced with
standard Chevy rod journal diameters and widths for SBC, BBC, LS1, and Mopar applications. Gen III/IV LS1 DragonSlayer crankshafts are available in either 4.000 or 3.625 strokes with 2.100
rod journals. Our LS1 crankshafts are machined from premium 4340 forgings and include a rough balance(1800). Each Callies LS1 features PERMA-TOUGH heat treating for added strength and serviceability. DragonSlayer LS1
crankshafts are sold with gun drilled mains and Angalite drilled rod journals.CompStar Crankshafts Compstar Performance Crankshafts are designed by our engineers, rough machined to our specification on 4340 material forgings, then finished in our facility. Our in house solid modeling abilities provide a great advantage in product development. At Callies we are able to see and test our ideas against established situations. We can also precisely locate material where it will yield the greatest advantage. Beginning with properly placed counterweights that not only improve balance but reduce bearing loads, every aspect of these highly stressed components has been analyzed. Our forgings are rough machined in a process that includes double stress relief operations that make these crankshafts dimensionally stable. Hardened with a deep nitride, Compstar cranks are ideal for abusive dirt track environments. All rod journals are drilled and counterweights are profiled for piston clearance. With our consistent grind and polish, along with our precise stroke and index, you will see why we say these crankshafts are Compstar Correct Compstar crankshafts are available in a variety of Small Block Chevy, Big Block Chevy, Late Model Hemi, and LS1 configurations.

Lunati's big block and small block Chevy crankshafts are forged from the finest 4340 aircraft quality certified steel. The 4340 alloy steel meets aircraft cleanliness and purity standards. Our exclusive non-twist design allows for continuous granular flow, producing a crankshaft with a higher cycle bending fatigue over the twisted forging version. The specifications during manufacturing are of the highest Lunati standards. For racing use, it is necessary that we improve on factory standards. We have done this with the material as well as the machining:
Design Specifications:
• All radii in the rod and main journals are .140".
• Roundness of each journal is within .0001" or less.
• Micro finishing of the journals are a grade 5 RMS or better.
• Crankshaft stroke is ±.001" maximum.
• A plasma gas nitrite heat treatment
is used, which gives a case depth of .015"-.022".
Oiling Technology:
The oiling system is similar to GM's factory specification, however, we have developed more precise points where the
oil enters the main and exits the rod journal. This exacting entrance and exit point improves the oil film thickness available at the rod journal. In addition, all oil holes have special attention given to the design for
proper oil delivery.
The Lunati Coutoured Wing Design:
Lunati is proud to offer the Contoured Wing Design counterweights on all of its Pro Series crankshafts.
The design of the leading edge of the counterweight is extremely important in directing the air and oil around the counterweights. This design allows the air and oil to be directed to the main, rather than the connecting
rods, therefore keeping the air and oil away from the rotating connecting rods. Air and oil move around the Contour Wing Design without losing contact with the boundary layer. If the air and oil lose contact with the boundary
layer, eddy currents will form, costing valuable horsepower through windage.
