1998-2002 LS1 F-Body Torque Converters
Using their 35+ years of on-track experience, TCI® has developed four new lock-up torque converters for GM LS1 powered cars* as well as 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 liter trucks. Extensive in-house dyno
time was spent in order to develop some of the most efficient LS1 converters on the market. Of course, considerable in-car testing was done as well. It’s common to see E.T. reductions of .5-.6 seconds over a stock converter. The TCI®'s proprietary carbon clutch lining was chosen for its durability as well as smooth lockup clutch application. It’s guaranteed not to chatter even in the face of the most demanding 4L60E EC3 converter clutch apply scenarios.
Features common to all four TCI® LS1 torque converters include heavy-duty top stator needle bearings. These bearings are some of the strongest in the industry for high performance 10” converter applications. The turbine is both furnace brazed and then further reinforced by hand-welding the fins. The turbine is also fitted with a heat-treated, steel input shaft spline. This makes for a turbine that can withstand well over 700 hp as tested on TCI®’s unique, torque converter dyno. All of TCI®’s LS1-style converters include a heavy-duty top insert that acts as an anti-ballooning plate as well. This allows these converters to be used safely in N2O and other power-adder applications.
As is common to all TCI® torque converters, these units are subject to rigorous quality inspections including computer balancing, impeller housing & hub run out verification and leak checking.

Mounting Cover - The customized billet mounting cover has no welded brackets. This smooth one-piece design reduces the rotation mass, eliminates wobble for less run-out, and keeps the converter perpendicular.
